Rick has self confeesed that he was on his way to becoming a jeuvenille delinquent, restless and a talented hitch
hiker. He claims that a 5,641 mile bike ride from Minnesota to Alaska, when he was 17, helped ground him when he
got back home. Rick, starting the trip with other firneds, was the only one to didn;t quit on the journey.
He travelled for a month alone.
Rick had always dreamed of becoming a professional hockey player, saying that he gets over aggressive on the ice. When
Rick was 16 though, he broke one of his arms in a game. Three weeks later, unable to stay away, he fell on the ice during
practise and broke his other one. He was in traction in hospital for three months! Rick was one of the coaches for the 1988
USA Olympic Hockey Team. He also does many celebrity teams such as hockey and racing.
Rick, tried out for the school swimming team. he says he judged the distance of the diving board wrongly and split his
head open. Through outhis life Rick has had several knee surgeries, back surgeries, and broken toes and fingers.
After leaving Univeristy just before he graduated, Rick moved to New York. He settled in Los Angeles and became
a juggler, a street-mime and acted in a Renaissance-style cabaret.
When he worked at Marineland where he wrote and directed the sequences with the killer whales, he was holding a fish
in his mouth for the killer whales to jump up and take. However, one killer whale jumped up and broke his nose,
spraying blood everywhere in front od the audience.
Rick played/formed in a rock group called "Rick Dean and the Dante", he sang and played guitar.
His break into national TV was when he played Dr. Jeff Webber in 1976 on the popular daytime drama 'General Hospital'. He then, including other TV roles and Films (see filmography) became famous world wide for his role as MacGyver and most
recently Colonel Jack O'Neill in 'Stargate SG-1'. Ricks ays he got the part of MacGyver because he asked to wear
his glasses for reading, as he is nearsighted, which the producers liked as he could be the hnest, modest hero
they wanted!
His own production company is called Gekko Film Corp, which he co-founded with Michael Greenburg.
His ex-girl friends include actresses Teri Hatcher, Lara Flynn Boyle, Sela Ward and German ice-skater Katarina Witt. In 1996 he met Apryl Prose and they had his only child, daughter Wylie Quinn Annarose Anderson on August 2, 1998. They
